RESEARCH PAPER: Zayo: Tomorrow’s Network Today

By Will Townsend, Patrick Moorhead - June 8, 2022

The current macro-economic environment is filled with uncertainty as recessionary pressures loom over the horizon. Inflation, accelerated by both the exit from the pandemic and recent geopolitics, is forcing organizations of all sizes to adapt to new ways of conducting business and do more with less. Enterprises must re-examine approaches to partnerships, supporting hybrid work, capital and operational expenditures, and, most importantly, connectivity needs that are becoming highly disaggregated. The corporate journey from core to edge to cloud creates complexity and the rise of networking as a service (NaaS) and software as a service (SaaS) is also fueling the need for robust networking capabilities outside of traditional datacenter, campus and branch environments. High-quality and ultra-reliable bandwidth are key. The increasing demands of critical workloads and applications make relying on unpredictable public Internet or best-effort connectivity solutions simply inadequate. What is needed is reliable, scalable, and secure connectivity that delivers high bandwidth and low latency.
