Christopher R. Wilder

Senior Analyst, Security

Christopher Wilder is Moor Insights & Strategy’s security analyst. He is an award-winning security technologist focused on all aspects of cybersecurity and developing strategies for protecting critical and communications infrastructure. Chris has over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, intelligence, and physical security. 

Chris also currently serves the CTO-in residence for Capstone Infrastructure Protection Services (CIPS), a firm that focuses on providing physical and cybersecurity services to end-user organizations. He has led “Red Team” gap analysis operations against the most significant healthcare, financial, insurance, and government organizations to identify holes in their physical and infrastructure environments. Chris also  serves on a task force reporting to the undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Defense to identify ways to remove the United States’ dependence on foreign supply chains, especially with critical infrastructure technologies. 

His life’s work is at the convergence of physical and information security – IoT, networks, electronic surveillance, and operational intelligence. Wilder began his career in Naval Intelligence and from there expanded his career in the intelligence community (IC) by protecting and securing dozens of critical infrastructure projects and special operations facilities worldwide. In addition to working with many of today’s top security technology and service providers, he is the personal advisor to several heads of state and government agencies on cyberwarfare, counterterrorism, and infrastructure development/deployment. 

Chris has spent the past two decades working with dozens of the largest technology firms on go-to-market, technology architecture, M&A, and product/market strategy. He has expertise in applying Edge/IoT solutions across multiple industries, including supply chain, manufacturing, data centers, transportation & aviation, defense, and cybersecurity. In 2019, Wilder received best in show from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) for architecting an SD-WAN based proof-of-concept (POC) for satellite broadband. His solution is currently being deployed across Africa to deliver secure, reliable, low-cost satellite broadband throughout the continent. Chris served as the Chairman & CEO for Industrial IoT security firm TIGA Energy Services Inc, and the Chief Marketing Officer for an open source real-time communications firm. He led the strategy and communications for HP Labs’ IoT, cybersecurity, augmented reality, as well as teaching drones to learn via cognitive computing. Chris has been on the ground floor for several successful (and not so successful) startups and serves as a Managing Director and technology advisor for a large investment fund focused on energy and technology investments in emerging markets. He provided ongoing advice, due diligence, and counsel to multiple venture capital, private equity, and hedge funds worldwide. 

Chris is the co-author of the best-selling business book, Influencing the Influencers (ISBN: 0978964306) and author of multiple technology publications. Wilder is a frequent contributor to The Boston Globe, New York Times, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal. Chris has a degree in Marketing and has achieved an executive certification from The California Institute of Technology for Machine Learning and Big Data.
